There are a lot of Wnos users using it successfully whith Baycom modems
( the local amprNet bbs also uses a Baycom to the 1200 bauds port ).
To get in touch with the guys that use Wnos&Baycom, subscribe
the Wnos discussion list. Send a mail to:
ListProc@edugraf.ufsc.br
with content:
SUBSCRIBE WNOS-L <your name>
If you don't have Wnos, give it a try... It seems the best choice to a
end-user host with Baycom.
Download it from the anonymous FTP server:
FTP.edugraf.ufsc.br
There you'll find most of Wnos (sources and exes):
Wnos4a8, Wnos4a9, Wnos4a9p, Wnos5, Wnosbeta0

Using a DRSI2 card together with G8BPQ node software (and PacketCluster)
I mentioned a small problem:
the configured txdelay for the ports are not recognized - txdelay always is set to 1.
Using the sysop-utility one can check and set this manually. But that parameter
should be recognized correctly ! Is it a bug or a feature, hi ?
Any hint is welcomed !

You can access YCCC and the Gulfcoast PacketCluster networks as follows
on 14.105. Connect to KB5OGN-7, VE9IW-7, VE9HF and you're in. Both
KB5OGN-7 and VE9IW-7 are on 14.105. 73 de VE9HF (Fredericton, New

To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
Can anyone tell me where I can obtain a Microsoft Windows 5Mhz Oscilloscope
program that will run on my PCⁿs sound board which supports stereo right/left
channel input to display a lissajous pattern?
The reason I'm looking for this type of program, is so I can attach my sound
boardⁿs input, to my PK232 TNCⁿs mark/space output, for tuning digital signals
on the HF bands. Updates (refreshes) need to occur at a minimum of 2 seconds to
make tuning of a signal on the shortwave radio functional, and the oscilloscope
display Windows needs to be scaleable in size.

To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
A friend of mine and I would like to set up an on-line system on UHF
somewhere for point-to-point usage (his house to mine), and would like
to go faster than 1200 bps on 2M. I've seen some UHF 9600 bps integrated
packet tnc/radios but never paid attention to the ads. Are there any
experiences with these products good or bad? This is for ham radio
usage, so I'm not looking for one of those non-licensed 900 MHz doodads.

Dave,
I've run a couple of 9600 bps links on 70cm for about 2 years now. The
first was an old TAPR TNC1 with 9600 bps modem and a Tekk 900 radio. The
modem was the real problem. I then upgraded to a DataEngine with Kantronic's
9.6/19.2 modem. That worked quite well. I added a second DE with 9.6/19.2
modem and a Kantronic's D4-10. That was truly plug and play. The D4-10's 10
watts out was a nice improvement on the 15 mile hop I use it on. I did have a
problem with the D4-10's frequency drift until Kantronic's installed a
modification and replaced a bad cap. I recently replaced the Tekk 900 with a
Tekk 960 which is told to have better frequency stability. I can not say that
it has improved things, as the link is quite reliable generally.
The groups I belong to has also installed a full duplex bit regenerator
"repeater" operating at 9600 bps using TAPR's 9600 bps modem and a MFJ tnc.
That works quite nicely. The rcvr is actually a Tekk 900, while the xmtr is a
motorola.
Completely packaged radios and tnc's though I have no experience with.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Bill, kb2cq
